Cranbrook RCMP is offering little information about what they are calling a targeted shooting in the city this weekend.
Key City Mounties responded to a report of multiple gun shots in the 2200 block of 2nd St. S just before 2:30 AM Saturday.
Officers arrived to find a 23 year old man suffering from non-life threatening gun shot wounds.
Staff Sergeant Hector Lee says they’re following up on leads and working very hard on the case.
Lee says they hope to have the case come to a quick resolution but they cannot guarantee anything at this point.
He adds they do not have anyone in custody and couldn’t explain why they believe this isn’t a random incident.
The Cranbrook detachment Commander suggests this area isn’t immune to these types of violent crimes and despite being much smaller, and different, than Surrey or Burnaby these things do happen time to time.
Lee says they do their best as police to keep a lid on things but admits most of these types of incidents are solved with the assistance of the public.
