The NDP candidate for Columbia River-Revelstoke says it will take more than hay and photo ops to solve issues plaguing wildlife in the East Kootenay.
Gerry Taft took part in a Wildlife Management Roundtable held in Cranbrook Saturday.
He’s pleased that all interest groups wanting change also plan to be an active part of the solution.
“Those solutions are really focused around more resources, more money, better planning, better science and making sure that when we are talking about wildlife and landuse planning, we are talking about science and not having the decision made purely by politicians,” Taft says.
Taft feels a new government would give a fresh take on backcountry issues.
The roundtable brought in over 300 people, representing First Nations, hunting groups and environmental advocates.
