The Bandits are in Cranbrook this weekend for some final swings before the regular season begins.
Both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams will play in a home tournament based at Confederation Park.
‘A’ coach Paul Mrazek says they need to stay engaged in the game.
“We need to stay in every game that we play.” says Mrazek. “It’s just a matter of mental toughness and focus.”
The Bandits ‘A’ skipper says they have been tweaking very specific elements of their game in practice including bunting and covering bases.
“We’ve been working on some situational stuff that we haven’t done well to try and get comfortable in those different situations.” explains Mrazek.
Meanwhile the Bandits ‘B’ squad is looking to continue their run of eight straight wins.
Head coach Ryan Phillips-Clement admits he doesn’t know everything about hitting but the team has made it easy for him.
He explains the offense is firing on all cylinders, from base hits to getting runners on to scoring, everything is clicking.
However, Phillips-Clement says this weekend will be their toughest task yet.
“Even though we’re 8-0 we need to be working hard.” says Phillips-Clement. “We’re going to be facing some tougher teams this weekend so the guys better be ready to work hard.”
The Bandits ‘A’ squad will play their first game of the tourney against the Calgary Dinos Friday afternoon at 1 at Confederation Park.
White the junior ‘B’ Bandits will get started at 6 PM on Friday against the Calgary Redbirds.
