Now that the final results of this month’s provincial election are officially in, we can take a look at voter turnout in our two local ridings.
More people cast a ballot in both Kootenay East and Columbia River-Revelstoke this year compared to 2013.
Approximately 56.5 per cent of registered voters in Kootenay East went to the polls, slightly up from 53.4 per cent four years ago.
Columbia River – Revelstoke saw an even bigger increase as 61.7 per cent of registered voters cast a ballot, compared to 53.6 per cent in 2013.
Across BC, voting was up as well.
62.5 per cent of registered British Columbians voted compared to about 52 per cent in 2013.
