More grizzly bears have been spotted around Fernie over the weekend.
Multiple sightings at the Mount McLean trailhead and the Roots bike trail on the weekend have conservation officers patrolling the area.
Kathy Murray with WildSafe BC Elk Valley says it is important to be alert and aware of bears in the area.
“We want to remind everyone to please do their part and be vigilant.” says Murray. “Lock up your garbage, if you see the bear back away and leave it space.”

“A reminder to residents to keep your garbage locked up indoors.” explains Murray. “If you don’t have anywhere to keep your garbage please take it to the bear resistant dumpster at [Max Turyk Elementary School] or at city hall or the pool.”

WildSafe BC also asks that you report sightings to their WARP program.
