The Cranbrook Banditas are keeping their heads high after playing some of western Canada’s best fastball teams over the weekend.
The women’s squad was in Sicamous to take on teams from Kelowna, Fleetwood and Calgary.
Head coach Dave Lacasse says there were lots of positives to take away from the games even though they finished 0-4.
“Our pitchers threw great, we had a few girls that hit the ball really well.” explains Lacasse. “The difference for the weekend for us was basically each game we had one bad inning. If we eliminated that one bad inning from each game the scores would definitely look a lot different.”
Lacasse explains the problems they had are easily fixable.
“They weren’t so much mental errors it was just a lot of physical errors which can definitely be fixed.” says the Banditas skipper. “It was nice to know as a coach we can hang with them athletically, we can play against some of the top teams and have good outcomes. We really just showed the other teams in the tournament that we can hang with them.”
The Banditas will be in action next against Elkford for a pair of home games on Sunday at the Kinsmen Quad Ball Fields.
