Crews have covered roughly 50 per cent of the search area for a missing plane that departed Cranbrook last week.
16 aircraft are back in the skies Wednesday looking for any sign of the Piper Warrior plane that had 21 year old pilot Alex Simmons of Kamloops and 24 year old passenger Sidney Robillard of Lethbridge on board.
The aircraft initially left Lethbridge last Thursday before refueling in Cranbrook in the afternoon but it never made it to its final destination of Kamloops.
Officials at the search headquarters in Kelowna say they’ve flown over the entire 350km stretch between the Key City and Kamloops but only half of it has been searched to their satisfaction.
Search efforts are divided into different areas and planes search each area at three different altitudes and angles.
Crews are also revisiting areas that were previously searched but efforts hampered by weather.
