Five local athletes from the Ktunaxa Nation are going to Toronto to compete in the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.
The athletes include swimmers Carter Basil-Pelly and Trent Walkley, volleyballer Justin Grosso, softball player Hana Braker and golfer Caytlyn Luke.
Nation chair Kathryn Teneese said in a press release that these young competitors are role models to not only the Ktunaxa youth, but all Ktunaxa people.
The week-long event celebrates sport, culture and indigenous youth across Canada and the United States.
The 2017 North American Indigenous Games take place July 16th to 23rd in Toronto.
