Two local junior hockey teams have formed a partnership that will create more opportunities for fans to attend games.
The WHL’s Kootenay ICE and the Kimberley Dynamiters of the KIJHL announced Thursday that they are teaming up for the upcoming season.
The Dynamiters’ season ticket holders will receive 15 per cent off individual game seats for the ICE.
Meanwhile, all ICE season ticket holders get the same benefits for Kimberley games.
“It just gets some more fans in our door, gets some different fans in our door that maybe don’t realize that junior ‘B’ hockey is as great as it is.” explains L’Heureux. “We have some great fans, we have a great atmosphere.”
Dynamiters season ticket coordinator Jodi L’Heureux came up with the idea and she says ICE President & G-M Matt Cockell welcomed it with open arms.
She adds the deal goes beyond ticket sales and is hopeful Nitros junior B players will now have a better shot at the major junior ICE roster if their performance is worthy.
L’Heureux hopes this will expand the fan bases of both organizations.
