The Kootenay ICE are looking for billet families for the upcoming season.
The WHL organization officially kicked off its billet-campaign this week, encouraging fans and Cranbrook-area residents to apply.
Long-time supporter Terri Sharpe has been putting a roof over players’ heads since 2010.
Sharpe says she’s been fortunate to have the opportunity to help young hockey players like Cale Fleury and Brett Davis off the ice.
“I’ve had some really good boys in my house, I’ve been able to watch them grow throughout the years.” says Sharpe. “I keep in touch with all my boys. You make long-lasting friendships with their families as well.”
Sharpe says all her ‘boys’ have shown nothing but class.
“They’re very giving of their time.” explains Sharpe. “They’ll go to some of the younger boys’ hockey practices and help run a hockey practice. They don’t just play hockey, there’s things in the community that they definitely get involved in.”
Sharpe also describes being a billet parent as a great way to give back to the community.
She plans to continue supporting the Kootenay ICE for years to come through the billet program.
