Sparwood residents will have their say on dog parks in the community.
The District is seeking input on the development of one or more off-leash dog parks, looking at lands in lower Sparwood and in Sparwood heights.
Planning assistant Jeremy Johnston says a survey will run until September 15th
“We’re looking for what potential users of the dog park would be looking for in terms of features within the park,” Johnston says. “So whether its shade or different types of surface material for different activities the dogs would do in parts of the dog park. So a few different things.”
Johnston says having a park will help reduce conflicts with dogs running off-leash .
“Not everybody is comfortable with an off-leash dog close to them, because they can at times be unpredictable,” Johnston says. “So I think it guides people who need to run their dog off-leash to a specific area where people know if they enter that area, they are going to encounter dogs off-leash.”
Johnston says they are also looking for feedback on potential locations.
The survey is available on Sparwood’s website and at the District’s main office.
