A BCCOS patrol of Premier Lake near Skookumchuck earlier this summer resulted in charges under the Fisheries Act and Wildlife Act.
An angler from Alberta was found with 3 rainbow trout in his possession while angling. Another 19 rainbow trout were located in his campsite.
The angler was charged for being 18 fish over the limit and for failing to produce an angling licence.
A court decision is pending and is expected to take place in mid- to late-August.
Overlimiting on fish is a federal charge under the Federal Fisheries Act.
Total fines issued were over $1000. Poaching and other environmental violations can be reported 24/7 to the COS hotline – 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP)
