A new playground in Elkford is receiving some support funding from District Council.
The Elkford Community Enhancement Society is receiving just over $19,000 to finish the Devonian Park in September.
Society President Andrea Gagnon says they plan the money helps keep the project on track.
“It just gave us the security because we were short with that funding,” Gagnon says. “We were short for $19,000, so it just gave us the funding to comfortably move forward with doing the project and not having to defer funds to next year.”
$200,000 is being invested into the playground’s first phase.
A community build with 40 volunteers gets underway September 14th.
The Society plans to add on to the park in 2018, with boulder climbing equipment worth just under $26,000.
