The East Kootenay is reporting the lowest number of drug overdose deaths in the province so far in 2017.
This from the BC Coroners Service, who released stats from June of this year showing the amount of suspected overdose deaths in British Columbia.
Only three fatalities have been reported in the East Kootenay this year, lower than any other area in BC.
111 deaths were reported in June, an increase of 61 percent from the same time last year. No new deaths were reported in the East Kootenay in June.
So far this year, 728 fatal drug overdoses have been reported, compared to 935 from all of 2016.
