The MP for Kootenay-Columbia is reacting after Parks Canada released a notice to sell off $8.3 billion in assets.
Wayne Stetski believes the decision to divest in infrastructure such as highways, bridges and dams will rob future generations from accessing national parks.
Stetski says this action was taken without any consultation with the public.
“We really want Canadians to pay attention and get their views known by contacting the Liberal government and expressing their concerns [over] privatizing National Parks assets.” says Stetski.
Stetski believes the Liberals have gone part-way to improving the Parks Canada budget but this would be a step back.
“Selling off assets is not the way to ensure a better future for National Parks.”
The Parks Canada notice was placed on the government buy-and-sell website.
