The Kootenay ICE dropped their second straight game to open the pre-season – this time an 8-3 defeat to the Portland Winterhawks.
The ICE came out of the gates flying as they went ahead 2-1 early in the first period with goals from Max Patterson and Barrett Sheen.
Kootenay’s eventual downfall would be the power play – they had nothing to show for in six opportunities.
The ICE have been outscored 15-3 in their first two games at the Red Lion Hotels Tournament in Kennewick, Washington.
They are back in action at noon on Saturday when they take on the defending WHL Champion Seattle Thunderbirds.
