A woman connected to the isolated religious sect known as Bountiful is fighting her conviction of removing a child from Canada for sexual purposes.
Emily Gail Blackmore has filed an appeal after she was found guilty of taking her 13 year old daughter to the US in 2004 to marry Warren Jeffs.
Jeffs is the former leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who is now serving a life sentence for assaulting two of his child brides.
Blackmore and her ex-husband Brandon James Blackmore were both found responsible in a Cranbrook courtroom in August.
She was sentenced to seven months in jail while he received 12 months.
