Mayor Cal McDougall explains Council is currently looking into replacement options for its aging garbage truck and commercial bins.
Because of this, the District is considering allowing certain businesses and multi-family developments to contract their own garbage pick-up to save the District money.
New bins alone would cost the District upwards of $150,000.
However, McDougall says before they make any decision they want to consult more with businesses.
He says they still need to talk to business owners and lay out all the potential changes to cost and operations.
McDougall suggests in most cases it would be better for businesses to contract out the service because it would give them more control.
Any changes to the residential service will be made after a commercial decision.
A motion on the matter is expected to be back in front of Council October 2nd.
