Authorities have entered the Fernie Memorial Arena for the first time since an ammonia leak killed three people.
The City’s Emergency Response Team is coordinating with hazmat and air monitoring experts out of Kelowna and Calgary, Worksafe BC and Interior Health.
Entry was made on the west side of the building Wednesday but levels on the east side are still too high and unsafe.
An investigation into what caused the leak is still in its early stages.
The area surrounding the arena remains evacuated and a week-long State of Emergency is still in effect.
The City confirmed two of its employees were involved in Tuesday’s fatal incident.
The identities of the deceased have not been released.
