A $1.2 million water system upgrade will be the subject of two referendums in Windermere Saturday.
The Regional District is considering purchasing Parr Utilities Limited, which owns and operates the local treatment plant and water distribution systems.
Parallel referendums are being held; one will be for all Windermere residents on whether or not they support the purchase and increased taxes and the other will be for east side residents on if they want the existing service expanded.
Windermere has been under a water quality advisory since 2006.
Over 230 ballots were cast in a pair of advance votes leading up to the referendums.
About 100 were cast for the Windermere Water Upgrade, with over 130 submitted for the East Side Lake Windermere Water Vote.
***The initial story had an error. It read The Regional District has secured funding for this project already and it has not.
The original headlines of “Windermere Votes on $1.2M water system upgrade” was inaccurate too.
