A snowfall warning is in effect for the East Kootenay.
Environment Canada says amounts will range from 10 to 15 cm in the valley bottoms to 20 cm or more over higher terrain.
The snow will be wet or mixed with rain in some valleys Thursday before turning to all snow later in the day.
The snow will ease to a few flurries near midnight over the western interior and by Friday morning in the east.
