The Kootenay ICE are back home Friday taking on the Prince Albert Raiders.
The ICE enter Friday’s game second in the Central Divsion at 8-9-1-0 while Prince Albert sits fifth in the East with a record of 7-6-3-0.
Injuries to Vince Loschiavo and Jeff de Wit has shaken things up on the roster.
Kootenay’s first round pick from the this year’s WHL Bantam Draft Connor McClennon is expected to make his debut on Friday.
Head Coach James Patrick says practice this week focused on players adjusting to new roles.
“The veteran guys will be in the lineup: Cale [Fleury], Brett Davis, [Martin] Bodak.” says Patrick. “Everyone has to step up moving up in the lineup.”
Patrick says they have to shut down the Raiders defence from the start of the game.
“The more I learn about this league, the teams where their defence is real mobile can really neutralize another team.” says Patrick. “We have a tough time pressuring real mobile defence.”
Following Friday night’s game the ICE will welcome the Spokane Chiefs (8-7-1-2) into town.
