The holiday break couldn’t have come at a better time for the College of the Rockies womens volleyball team.
The injury-ridden Avalanche skidded into the end of the first semester schedule losing four straight matches on the road.
Head Coach John Swanson says it’s time to regroup, recover and come back strong in the New Year.
“I look at our bench and we had four players who physically couldn’t play.” says Swanson. “I feel for Alexa Koshman who literally has only played two of twelve matches and the two matches she played she was Player of the Week in the PACWEST.”
COTR finished the first semester with a 4-8 record.
“Is the break [great timing] for us? Absolutely.” says Swanson. “If we were rolling in undefeated and everything we’d want to keep playing but in our situation it’s the complete opposite. We just need to get healthy and healed.”
The Avs will practice for two more weeks before taking time off until they return to action on January 12th against Capilano College.
