Over $35,000 was raised in the fourth annual Cranbrook Eagles Boxing Club Charity Challenge.
The event features local business owners and community members going toe to toe in an effort to raise funds for those nominated.
Tom White with the Cranbrook Eagles says they take nominations of people in the community who need help financially.
“It was another huge success, we really thought this year we’d beat last year, we were short about $500 but for the effort put in this year, there wasn’t a lot of time due to work restraints but it was another successful night.” says White. “How can you complain about $35,000 rasied?”
White explains how the money is raised.
“We have live auction items that are donated, the fighters raise money to fight each other, they take six to eight weeks of training at the boxing club.” explains White. “We go around and we get donation items and in between the fights we auction off items and basically that’s how it’s raised.”
White adds they’ve raised nearly $160,000 since the event began four years ago.
