Alec Baer was the overtime hero for the Kootenay ICE Wednesday night in a 4-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders.
Baer scored just 38 seconds into the extra frame.
The 20-year old forward says the three-on-three overtime really speeds up the pace of play.
“I mean you’ve got a lot of room right, so if you can kind of get some seperation you can kind of let your skill take over and you can definitely get a lot of scoring chances.”
Baer explains how the play went down.
“I just kind of got some seperation on the wall and I found the d-man kind of one-on-one with me and caught him flat footed so I took advantage of him and goalie came out on me so I decided to push it wide and was able to slide it in.”
Baer was also announced Kootenay ICE Player of the Month for November.
He says it does wonders for his confidence to earn the OT winner and be Player of the Month.
Other goals on the night came from Vince Loschiavo, Jonathan Smart and Cameron Hausinger.
Kootenay is now 12-14-1-0 and regain sole possession of second place in the Central Division just five points behind Medicine Hat.
The ICE will hit the road now for their BC swing with the first stop in Kelowna Saturday night.
