Para-athletes from around the world will be coming to Kimberley in the new year.
The World Para-Alpine Skiing World Cup will be held February 7-11 in the Bavarian City.
Canadian Ski Council President & CEO Paul Pinchbeck estimates athletes from twelve different countries will take part.
“This event takes place just prior to the Paralympic Games and will probably represnt the last chance for athletes to qualify for the Pyeongchang Games.”
Pinchbeck says the opportunity to see athletes with disabilities compete at the highest level is special to see.
“Many of these athletes are battling and overcoming disabilities that would keep the ordinary or the faint of heart off the ski hills and I think it’s a fantastic thing to see.” says Pinchbeck.
The 2018 Paralympic Games will begin March 8 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
