2018 will see a significant expansion completed at the College of the Rockies’ Cranbrook campus.
President and CEO David Walls is looking forward to opening their new trades building April 30th, with courses beginning at the facility this Fall.
Walls also hopes for more discussion on a new residence at the Cranbrook campus.
“We can’t continue to grow unless we can house our students,” Walls says. “The demographic within our own region presents a bit of a challenge because the youth population has been in decline and the number of graduates from high school. We’ve got to figure out how to bring students in from other regions.”
Walls says COTR will introduce a new Hospitality business management course in Invermere this Fall.
He adds they are also looking at expanding university level programming.
“We’re beginning to look at more second year courses in some of our university studies, so students can stay longer,” Walls says.
Stay tuned for more 2018 previews from East Kootenay newsmakers as we move into the new year.
