Resorts of the Canadian Rockies is ready to bring their expertise into managing Kimberley’s conference centre.
The city announced last week they reached a five year agreement with RCR to operate the city’s Conference and Athlete Training Centre.
Spokesperson Matt Mosteller feels its a great partnership that could help the building make a profit.
“We have an extensive sales and marketing organization and we feel that will help us get a greater reach to more opportunities in the meeting and conference business, as well as events we’re hosting this summer,” Mosteller says. “The Reebok Beast Spartan event that we’re hosting is a great example of how the facility could benefit.”
Mosteller says the company’s experience in the tourism industry is a perfect fit for the building.
“We are already so focused on bringing people into town and maximizing room nights and we feel that how we can see success happen is really gaged by the sale of those room nights,” Mosteller says. “We can also optimize the down times for the community. We are hopefully going to build the business up in the time of need for those hoteliers.”
The facility has been operated by the Community Development Society for six years.
RCR signed on for the next five years and has held the food and beverage services contract since the building opened.
