The Kootenay ICE struggled to maintain leads in a 5-3 loss to the Swift Current Broncos Wednesday night.
The ICE went up 2-0 early in the first frame with goals from newcomer Brad Ginnell and Alec Baer.
But the Broncos bounced back quickly with one of their own in the first and another to tie it up in the second.
Former ICE player Max Patterson gave Swift Current the lead early in the third but Cameron Hausinger knotted things up at three.
Unfortunately Kootenay couldn’t hold on and gave up a goal and an empty netter as well.
Final shots on goal tallied at 41-33 Swift Current with ICE netminder Bailey Brkin stopping 36 of 40 shots against the club he was once signed to.
The ICE are now 18-19-3-0 on the season and sit second in the Central Division.
Kootenay is back in action Friday in Prince Albert to take on the Raiders.
