The Columbia Basin Trust is inviting teenagers to Kimberley to learn more about being a community leader.
CBT is hosting a Youth Leadership Summit May 4th to 6th in the Bavarian City.
Director Aimee Ambrosone says the event helps youth tap into their potential as leaders.
“Events like this can be impactful if they walk away with a positive experience about inspiring them around community development, community engagement and leadership,” Ambrosone says. “If you have a really good experience as a young person in one of these kinds of settings, I think it can really help frame what you think about what you are doing with the rest of your life.”
Ambrosone adds it helps develop skills in networking, decision making and public speaking.
“What we are trying to do is meet youth where they are at, get them engaged in where their interests are and help them build those skills and activities,” Ambrosone says. “So we do that at a local level through community youth networks and now we’re doing this regional event to bring youth together who want to build more of those skills at a regional level, learn more about one another and then take that knowledge back to their communities.”
Deadline for applications is February 27th. You can learn more about the event here.
