The Kimberley Dynamiters are within reach of securing a division title.
The Nitros picked up a pair of wins against Fernie and Creston Valley over the weekend and need one more victory to secure the top seed.
Head Coach Derek Stuart says they’re starting to hit their peak.
“I like how we’ve played in the last five or six games for the most part.” says Stuart. “I think we’re on the right track and playing some of our best hockey.”
The injury bug has plagued Kimberley with Matt Davies, Chase Gedny, James Rota, Nicholas Graham and Colby Sherlock all out with injuries.
The Nitros will also lose Mason Palaga who was given a match penalty against the Thunder Cats Saturday.
Stuart says their depth on both ends of the ice has been vital to their success.
“A lot of guys played more minutes than they’re used to and [played in] more key situations than they’re used to on Saturday.” says Stuart. “I thought they did a tremendous job in contributing to our win.”
Rookie Cam Russell had a four point weekend while Cody Campbell picked up two wins between the pipes.
The Dynamiters also lead the Eddie Mountain Division in both special teams categories. The Nitros have a 22.73% success rate on the man advantage and kill off 87.45% of penalty kills.
Kimberley is back in action Friday hosting the Golden Rockets.
