Our region’s highways maintenance contractor is forecasting a short but intense weather event starting Wednesday.
Mainroad East Kootenay expects temperatures to rise then drop significant overnight with percipitation turning from rain and wet snow to heavier flurries.
Mainroad says these are ideal conditions for the formation of ice and compact snow on the roads.
They suggests when the weather system is done temperatures are expected to be in the minus eight to minus 12 range.
Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions and possible extreme winter driving conditions.
