A four-game road trip for the Kootenay ICE begins Tuesday in Saskatoon.
The ICE have struggled away from home – especially against East Division teams. Kootenay owns a 1-7-0-0 record on the road versus the East.
Head Coach James Patrick is anticipating a challenging, physical stretch of games on the road.
“Hopefully this is a good test that we know we can compete and battle and stand up for ourselves.” says Patrick. “That’s what we’re going to see here.”
Patrick says they need to match the gritty style of their opponents.
“We went to Saskatchewan last time and every team was really physical.” explains Patrick. “I’ll be the first to admit we’re more of a smaller skating team.”
The ICE remain third in the Central Division with a 23-26-3-0 record, seven points behind second place Lethbridge and six points ahead of fourth place Red Deer.
Kootenay has lost three straight heading into Tuesday’s game.
Brett Davis continues to lead the ICE offensively as of late, tallying 15 points in his last 10 games and with 40 points in 52 games altogether.
The ICE will take on Prince Albert, Regina and Moose Jaw to round out the road swing.
You can catch all the action on The Drive with Brant Hilton on the mic.
