The Kimberley Fire Department says built-up snow could lead to more structures collapsing around the city.
This after an eight vehicle carport behind an apartment building caved in on Kimbrook Crescent Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Rick Prasad says people should be conscious of snow loads on their houses.
“There are some individuals that they can consult or companies for removing the snow and relieving some of the weight on their structure,” Prasad says. “If anyone is removing their own snow, please be careful. We do ask that they consult with people who do this for a living and make sure you have proper insurance coverage.”
Emergency crews are reporting no injuries in Wednesday’s incident.
RCMP canine units searched the debris to ensure no one was trapped.
