The Kimberley Dynamiters can solidify their seat in the KIJHL Finals with a win on Friday night.
The Nitros are in Nelson for Game Six of the Kootenay Conference Final after taking a 3-2 series lead Thursday night.
Head Coach Derek Stuart says they don’t want to come back to Kimberley for Game Seven.
“[We] just [want to] get up and have a good bus trip to Nelson and get a good meal into us.” says Stuart. “I know it’s a cliche but take it a shift at a time and not think about what a win could get us.”
Stuart says scoring on the power play is key.
“We’re going to have to watch some film for sure on our power play and see if there’s something that’s open that we’re missing.” says Stuart. “[Nelson]’s done a really good job even though we got some goals in Game Four there, they’ve been doing a really good job on their penalty kill.”
A win tonight would give the Nitros their third conference title in four years.
Elsewhere the Revelstoke Grizzlies and Osoyoos Coyotes play Game Five of the Okanagan Shuswap Conference Final tonight.
That series is deadlocked at two games apiece.
