A provincial homeless count is happening in Cranbrook Wednesday.
The Homelessness Services Association of BC says counts are planned involving various service groups and support programs to take stock on the demand throughout the city.
Cranbrook is one of 12 communities across British Columbia that will help inform the government’s Homelessness Action Plan, expected to be released later this year.
BC’s Social Development and Poverty Reduction Minister Shane Simpson previously told us it would be a mistake if the same approach to homelessness was taken province wide.
He said homelessness is a complex issue and a cookie cutter solution would not apply to all BC communities.
