Fire departments near Baynes Lake were on watch Sunday night after a large grass fire sparked near the community.
The Regional District of East Kootenay says a blaze burned 30 acres of grassland Sunday afternoon.
The Baynes Lake, Jaffray and Elko Fire Departments worked to contain the fire with support from provincial attack crews.
The fire crews remained on watch overnight to ensure any hot spots are actioned.
The BC Wildfire Service says the blaze is currently around 25 hectares in size.
A second fire was also reported yesterday near the Mission-Wycliffe Road south of Kimberley.
That fire is only one hectare in size.
