Two hockey players from Cranbrook played against some of BC’s best young prospects over the weekend.
Gavin Damstrom and Dayton Nelson both took part in the BC Cup in Salmon Arm.
The BC Cup is a jamboree style tournament mixing players throughout the province onto eight teams.
The two skaters played for the East Kootenay ICE Bantam Tier 1 team this season.
Damstrom says he felt great despite just coming back from injury.
“Overall it was a great experience to play against some of the best guys in British Columbia.” says Damstrom.
Damstrom also captained the ICE Bantam Tier 1 team this season.
“The fact that I can play with those guys is a good feeling to show that I’m there.” says Damstrom. “With all my accomplishments this year, it’s good to see I can play with those guys.”
Nelson says it was an insane feeling to play at such a high level.
“The pace was just so fast and you had like one second to move the puck.” says Nelson. “It was a great experience.”
They each earned an assist in the tournament.
