The 2018 WHL Bantam Draft is an exciting day for the Kootenay ICE franchise.
This from Director of Scouting and Hockey Operations Jake Heisinger as the selection process takes place on Thursday in Red Deer.
Heisinger says it’s an important day for the franchise.
“We feel like we’re going to be getting an impact, elite player.” says Heisinger. “We’re just working through a few things here right now, finalizing a few things and really looking forward to Thursday.”
The ICE won the draft lottery last month and jumped up two spots from their fourth position.
“We have a type of player that we prioritize as a group and we’re going to try and get those kinds of guys.” says Heisinger. “We’ve stuck to a plan all along and we’re going to continue to do that into draft day.”
Kootenay drafted Peyton Krebs first overall in 2016 and Connor McClennon second overall in 2017.
The Edmonton Oil Kings draft first overall this year.
