A $10,000 grant from the Province will help Kimberley determine what work needs to be done at local arenas.
The funding given to the city will go toward a condition assessment at the Civic Centre and the Marysville Arena.
CAO Scott Sommerville says the city is waiting for one more grant so they can tackle both facilities at the same time.
He says if the do not get the second grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, they’ll concentrate on the Civic Centre.
Sommerville says they’ve been working slowly to improve the facility over the last few years, including the installation of a walking track.
He says the city knows the glass and boards around the rink are a priority for renovations going ahead, but other improvements could address accessibility and energy efficiency.
