Teck’s recent donation of $1 million for College of the Rockies is indicative of the strong bond between the two organizations.
The mining giant’s manager of social responsibility Nic Milligan says the funds will be a big boost to the college’s trades training programming.
“This donation provides improved access to training for students around the region. We think it will benefit those students and the region economically.”
Teck says their donation will ensure students have the skills needed to access jobs and opportunities available through local resource development.
A portion of the funds is earmarked to revitalize the Fernie campus while the Cranbrook campus gets $800,000 to boost trades training programming.
