RDEK Board Chair and Area C Director Rob Gay has announced he will seek re-election for a fifth term.
Gay says throughout his working life, he has held a variety of positions where providing service to the public was the central goal and he would like to continue serving the citizens of Area C and the RDEK.
Gay has served 13 years as an RDEK Director.
He feels he has the knowledge, skills, judgement and character to help ensure residents continue to receive effective and efficient service and fair treatment.
Gay says his strategic priorities for next term include addressing climate change.
“We see it in all aspects of our work. I think we need to be in front of that a little bit because we see so many areas of the world that its ruining their businesses, it’s ruining a lot of things.
He also identifies world class communications and fostering a transparent, open and participative government.
Gay says transparency has been one of his strong points.
“Our agendas are out before the public sees what we’re up to, we do a quarterly budget review, we have a cheque register and you see every cheque that we write. We don’t have to provide this information, it’s just something that as a regional district we want to do.”
He adds that he would like to help Community Champions and volunteers with community driven projects.
