New owners. New logo.
The Kootenay ICE unveiled the design for a new logo Monday just days after the Western Hockey League approved the transfer of ownership from the Chynoweth family to Matt Cockell and Gregg Fettes.
A statement on the team’s website says, “a new ice age is officially underway”.
The new look includes the familiar yeti but looks to have scrapped the mountain.
The new ownership group continues to promise a fresh start for fans and the community and the new logo will reportedly be ready for the 2017-2018 season.
New President and General Manager Matt Cockell said in the statement, “the future is now. We see tremendous opportunity to engage the community and create an experience that our players and fans will embrace and have fun with. It is a very exciting time”.
Cockell added, “this is the City of Cranbrook and East Kootenay Region’s team. We are approaching every decision with that in mind. This is ICE Country and the community will be the driving force behind their team”.
