Family’s can bond over a Sunday morning of fishing and barbecuing thanks to our local conservation officers.
East Kootenay CO sergeant Denny Chretien says it will be a great treat for kids and their old man on Fathers’ Day.
“It’s great to have the children start off on the right foot in terms of fishing and knowing the regulations and knowing they actually exist.” says Chretien. “At the same time, having fun doing it.”
Chretien says it’s a great learning experience for children.
“One of the most important things is just to promote [a] family fishing day and that in turn promotes the whole excitement of being out with your mom and dad and being able to go and catch a trout or learn to fish.”
Fishing rods and bait will be available for kids to use throughout the morning.
The event will run at Idlewild Park from 9 AM to noon.
