Kimberley’s Chamber of Commerce says a new bus route to Cranbrook will increase traffic to local businesses.
Chamber Manager Mike Guarnery says he’s pleased a new commuter service will provide regular weekday trips between the two communities.
He says the initiative should help bolster the regional economy.
“I think it really adds to that cooperation between both cities, as we’ve become better at recognizing that we’re a regional market,” Guarnery says. “We do have a lot of people that live here and work there. This compliments those needs and what people want.”
He says this will add to the cooperation seen between the two cities.
“I think it will give an opportunity for people who live in Cranbrook who may not have readily available transportation a ride to Kimberley to enjoy the afternoon in our town,” Guarnery says. “They can take advantage of trails and shops and whatever amenities we have to offer.”
The service is expected to start in September.
It will add 10 stops per week between the Cranbrook and Kimberley.
