Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the East Kootenay.
Widespread winds ranging from 20 to 50 kilometres per hour are expected to start Saturday afternoon in the Southern Interior region.
The strong winds will continue to push through the East Kootenay early Sunday morning.
Environment Canada says there is also a risk of lightning over the Kootenays and Columbia region, with temperatures dropping by 6 to 8 degrees Sunday.
The BC Wildfire Service warns this weather could challenge efforts to contain wildfires and could cause growth on a number of these incidents.
