The Southeast Kootenay School District is reassuring parents there is no evidence of a credible threat to Elkford Secondary.
This after the high school was made aware of an anonymous threat made on social media Wednesday after class.
Safe School Coordinator Jason Tichauer says the threats were believed to center around committing acts of violence at the high school.
“We contacted Safer Schools Together, who does the provincial data analysis,” Tichauer says. “Both Safer Schools Together and the RCMP and our district team have been unable to find any credible threat based in Elkford.”
Tichauer says the safety of their students is top priority to the district.
Safety protocols were implemented as SD5 assessed the credibility of the threat, including an increase RCMP presence near Elkford Secondary.
