Halloween is here and local RCMP are reminding parents and children to stay safe.
RCMP say drivers should be going extra slow on all streets and trick or treaters should remain on sidewalks.
Cranbrook Constable Katie Forgeron also says it’s important to use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing any streets.
“Cars are obviously going to be aware that kids are out there but they can’t stop on a dime so just try to make sure you’re visible [and]make sure you stop before you cross the street.” says Forgeron.
Forgeron adds drivers should be slowing down and turning their stereos off to be aware of their surroundings.
“If somebody darts out into traffic obviously stop as quick as you can.” says Forgeron. “If that unfortunate, tragic incident happens where you might happen to hit somebody just stop, remain calm and we’ll get there as soon as we can to help out.”
Cranbrook RCMP want to wish the entire community a Happy Halloween.
