We’re getting a better idea of when Windermere and area residents may have access to higher quality water.
The Regional District’s Brian Funke says the first step is taking over the ownership and operation of Parr Utilities in May.
Funke explains that new water service will be called the East Side Lake Windermere water system.
In the meantime, a consultant will spend the winter designing the new water system.
The second component is connecting the existing Windermere water service to the east side system.
A contractor is expected to be hired for that job by the summer.
Funke says construction will then begin soon after and will likely be complete by the end of 2018 or early 2019, when residents can expect cleaner water.
