Five players from local Junior B hockey teams will compete in the KIJHL’s Top Prospects Showcase.
Fernie’s Ethan Jang made the cut as well as Kimberley’s Harrison Risdon and Brock Palmer.
Palmer – who leads the Nitros in scoring – says it’ll be great to represent the Dynamiters with his teammate Risdon.
“It’s too bad he got suspended for so long just recently but he was doing really good at the start of the year.” says Palmer. “I’m sure he’ll keep that going and we can do good at the [Prospects Showcase] together.”
Palmer says originally he thought he wasn’t picked.
“I was kind of surprised and was like ‘Oh, that sucks I didn’t make it on there’ and then I just got the news yesterday that I was on it and I was for sure happy about that.” says Palmer.
Columbia Valley’s Kyler Shmigelsky also made the team as well as Creston Valley goaltender Levi Mitchell.
Fernie Ghostriders Head Coach Craig Mohr will also join Team Kootenay Conference as Manager and Creston’s Brad Tobin will be one of three coaches.
This is the first time the KI will host a Top Prospects game since 2011.
The showcase will be played January 14th in Kelowna.
